R.I.P. Rheta Wells

Jeff, This afternoon, we held a Memorial Service for Rheta Wells. I played the music that
Rheta had requested along with two songs that John asked me to play. One of those
was Rheta's Song. It was played just before the family, and friends were given an
opportunity to say a few words of remembrance. The song was very well received,
although I ... Read Moreobserved a few tears from several of those who were in
attendance. I made several CD's containing all of the songs that were played,
including Rheta's Song. I gave them to a few of the family members.
Thanks for the beautiful job that you did with the song. We provided a hand - out
with the lyrics to those in attendance. Credit was given to John, for writing the lyrics,
and to you, for writing the music, and performing the song. Your contribution helped
make the service something very special for all who attended.

Resurrection

I wrote this song in memory of Shannon Thompson, my niece who was recently taken from us all too soon. It is a Fingerstyle piece. This is the first recording of it, I'm still working on a refined version and plan to rename it to something more fitting. Friends of Shannon are welcome to submit ideas. Maybe a nickname of hers?

Defending the Castle Keep

This is my newest song, Defending the Castle Keep. I began writing this last summer at the Accent on Music Seminar after Al Petteway showed us DADGAD tuning after the first day of classes. I played a much rougher, significantly shorter version last summer at the student recital, which i'll post soon.

I plan to re-record this because there are some mistakes, as this was very challenging for me to play! I will re-record and make a Youtube Video of it at the same time. I plan to have the tabs ready and I'm working on a new way to present the left and right-hand fingerings. I will have lots of this type of information on all my TABS as well as detailed notes and suggested exercises/further reading right on the TABS from now on to make learning the pieces as easy as possible!
